Shift of consciousness

The French philosopher Henri Bergson wrote that the human eye can see only what the mind, that is, our consciousness is ready to grasp. In the ‘Shift’ sculptural series, the artist Egor Zigura turns to the theme of consciousness evolution, which is most noticeable precisely in the main milestones of the history of art, in its best examples. ‘Shift’, the cycle of monumental works, is made in bronze and represents sculptural portraits of various emotional states of a person: from anxious anticipation, despair and anger to absolute tranquillity.

Egor Zigura demonstrates not just an interest in the philosophical category of consciousness, but also in consciousness as an internal dimension of personal experience.
