The opening of the BIFRONTE project of Ukrainian artists Nikita and Egor Zigura will be held on March 17 in the artistic space "ALPHACENTAURI" in Parma, Italy.

"The BIFRONTE Project presents the work of the brothers Nikita and Egor Zigura, who live and work in Kyiv and who create sculptures in one of the workshops in the historic center of the Ukrainian capital. Having passed through academic education with almost identical academic paths, Nikita and Egor, however, do not strive for such forms. It might appear that, paradoxically, they do not look like each other because of the visible contrast in style and manner, and, therefore, in a way of perception and interpretation of things and phenomena, but this is only a first impression," says the initiator of the exhibition Enrico Zilocchi.

"Galaxy", from the project "WELKIN", Nikita Zigura

BIFRONTE is a combination of two completely different projects by Nikita and Egor Zigura (Welkin and AfterToday respectively), developed separately during the years 2010-2016. The two-sided vision of the sculpture focuses on a subtle inheritance and deep interrelation between their approaches to plastic in sculpture, which is not necessarily self-evident at first glance.

In his latest project, with the symbolic name of WELKIN, that is, "the higher heavenly sphere," Nikita draws inspiration from the starry sky, from a vast universe that has a unique healing energy and is beyond our understanding. His sculptures, which are made in a completely innovative aerography technology, are like bright colorful mediums between terrestrial and celestial spaces, between humankind and divinity, between present and future. They can be considered as self-sufficient entities (galaxies) and at the same time as the smallest particles of something immense, which always existed and never will extinguish.

Egor’s project AfterToday, on the contrary, returns us to the past. Artist’s colossuses enter into a dialogue with classical antique sculpture, rethinking and interpreting it from the modern point of view and enriching with new semantic layers. It may seem that they are trying to send a powerful signal over time and space from their broad open mouths (Colossus that Fell), to show ephemeral perfection and inevitable dissolution of any material substance or concept (Colossus that Ruins, Colossus Disappearing, Dissolution) to reveal contradictions and to distort what was developed earlier in order to find another essence.

However, despite the fact, that brothers' formal languages of art are different, the main goal of the exhibition is to emphasize integrity. After all, both artists place human figure in a focus of their artistic, intellectual and philosophical quest.

The exhibition will last until April 13, 2017.
